Introducing My Fiancé

You read that right: I’m engaged!

Over the last one and a half years, I’ve been developing a relationship with a wonderful man that shares my passion for discipleship and missions, and just 2 weeks ago he asked me to marry him and I said yes! Our story is a beautiful one that shows God’s faithfulness to us and His determination not to let us get in the way of His best plans for us, as both of us, had we gone after our own plans, would never have met each other. BUT GOD was gracious in leading us and His hand is clearly seen in all the details that brought us together.

So who is this man? His name is Patrick Daniel Soares da Rocha, and unless you’re Latino, I’m almost certain you had no idea how to read that. Have no fear, his preferred name is Paddy and I think everyone should be capable of pronouncing that. He is half German, half Portuguese, born and raised in Germany, so he’s not your typical native from either of those nations. He loves worship and he plays guitar and sings very well. Most importantly, he loves Jesus and we love each other!

We will be getting married later this year and starting a new life together, but we will still be continuing in missions as it remains the primary calling for both of us. There are many new things in store for us, new dreams that God has been stirring over the last year that we will be pursuing, but we’ll get to those in time as they take more shape. For now, we are in the USA together spending time with my family whom he met in person for the first time, investing into my church here in Spokane, and both taking online courses to continue learning more because you can never get to the end of discovering God! We will head back to Germany in mid-April, so if you are in the Spokane area and would like to meet, send me an email! We’re very flexible.

  1. How exciting – congratulations to the both of you! As we prayed for you a day or two ago, I wondered if you would marry someone from another country, and perhaps live elsewhere, but that would just be another part of God’s adventure He’s been directing you on.
    Many blessings,
Bev and Ken Varcoe P.S. I’m delighted to get your prayer letter this time!
